3 Easy Handmade Cards with the Stampin’ Up! Extraordinary Life Bundle

Have you ever looked at a stamp set and thought, “That’s cute, but I wouldn’t know what to do with it”?

Or maybe you’ve seen a product labeled for scrapbooking and immediately passed it by because you’re a card maker—not a scrapbooker.

If that sounds familiar, you are not alone. Sometimes the hardest part of card making isn’t the actual stamping. It’s knowing where to begin without feeling overwhelmed by all the possibilities.

This week, I used the Stampin’ Up! Extraordinary Life Bundle to create three easy handmade cards. Although this bundle was designed with memory keeping in mind, its butterflies, flowers, notebook paper, frames, hearts, and other playful elements work beautifully on cards, too.

These projects are simple enough for a newer stamper while still offering enough layers and interesting details to make an experienced card maker smile.

Start with One Simple Idea

You don’t need to see the entire finished card before you begin. Sometimes you only need one element that catches your attention.

For the first card, that starting point was the notebook paper die cut. I paired it with a colorful butterfly, a bright heart, and the “Happiest Birthday Wishes” sentiment.

The Golden Glow background was stamped with a small honeycomb image in the same color ink. This tone-on-tone stamping added texture without creating more visual clutter.

That is a helpful trick when you want your card to feel more finished but don’t want to introduce another color or patterned paper. Simply stamp a small image repeatedly using ink that matches your cardstock.

The butterfly was colored with Hydrangea Hue and Cloud Cover Stampin’ Blends, but I kept the coloring intentionally simple. You don’t need elaborate shading to create a beautiful focal point. A little color and a few Stampin’ Dimensionals can make an image pop.

Make Coloring Easier with Blending Brushes

If coloring stamped images makes you nervous, the second card includes a wonderfully forgiving technique.

Before stamping the butterfly and flowers, I used Blending Brushes to add soft circles of Pool Party and Crisp Cantaloupe ink to Basic White cardstock. Then I stamped the images directly over the blended color.

That’s it—instant color without carefully staying inside the lines!

This technique is especially helpful when you are short on time or don’t feel confident using markers. The soft, imperfect color creates an artistic look without requiring precision.

I layered these images with a vellum circle, a Pretty Peacock frame, a notebook paper die cut, and a heart featuring the “Sending You Hugs” sentiment. The result has plenty of detail, but every step is manageable.

And isn’t that what we really need from our creative time? A project interesting enough to feel satisfying, but not so complicated that it becomes another source of stress.

Let Patterned Paper Do Some of the Work

The third card may be the simplest of the three, but it certainly doesn’t look plain.

I started with a full card front of Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper. A second pattern from the same package was added diagonally, along with a strip of Basic White cardstock for the stamped butterflies and birthday greeting.

Using coordinating patterned paper removes much of the guesswork. The colors and patterns are already designed to work together, so you don’t need to spend your limited creative time trying dozens of combinations.

I added soft areas of Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, and Crisp Cantaloupe ink around the butterflies with Blending Brushes. A few small butterfly embellishments completed the card.

Quick, colorful, and completely achievable—even after a long day.

What Happens When a Card Goes Wrong?

I have to tell you about the mistake I made while creating the original version of the third card: I decorated the card base in the wrong direction, so it opened backward!

Yes, I make mistakes, too.

Fortunately, the decorated panel can be trimmed from the card base and attached to a new one. The project isn’t ruined, and the supplies don’t have to be wasted.

If you’ve ever made a crooked cut, stamped something upside down, or assembled a card backward, please don’t let that convince you that you aren’t creative. Mistakes are part of making things with your hands. Most can be covered, trimmed, flipped, or turned into a new design feature.

Your handmade card does not need to be perfect to make someone feel remembered and loved.

Use a Card Sketch When You Feel Stuck

One of these cards began with a card sketch, although the finished design looked quite different from the original layout.

That is exactly how sketches are supposed to work. They aren’t rigid instructions—you can treat them as a starting point.

Try changing the shapes, rotating the layout, replacing a circle with a butterfly, or using patterned paper where the sketch shows cardstock. You don’t have to copy it exactly. Let it give you just enough direction to begin.

The next time you sit down to stamp and your mind goes blank, choose one sketch, one stamp set, and three coordinating colors. That is more than enough to create something wonderful.

Which of these Extraordinary Life cards would you make first: the layered birthday card, the Sending You Hugs card, or the diagonal butterfly birthday card? Leave me a comment and tell me your favorite. Be sure to save this post for the next time you need a little creative jump-start!

3 Easy Spring Cards (with the Cutest Animals!) + FREE Card Kit Offer

There’s just something about simple, sweet cards that makes your heart happy… and this week’s projects are exactly that.

If you’ve ever felt like you don’t have time (or patience) for complicated cardmaking, this is your reminder that you don’t need to. These three cards are quick, beginner-friendly, and still totally “wow.”

And let’s be honest… that bunny? I mean… come on. 😍

This week on Stampin’ Sunday, I featured the Notes of Spring Stamp Set—a past Product of the Month that’s still available (for now 👀), and it is packed with the cutest little images that practically do the work for you.

Why You’ll Love the Notes of Spring Stamp Set

This set is one of those hidden gems.

You get:

  • Adorable animal images (bunny, deer, duck)
  • Coordinating filler stamps (so you don’t have to color if you don’t want to)
  • Sweet, versatile sentiments

If you’re a “quick and cute” crafter, this is your kind of set. You can stamp and go… or step it up with a little shimmer and color.

And right now? You can grab it for just $5 with a $75 order while supplies last.

Card #1: Simple Birthday Card with a Soft, Elegant Feel

This one is perfect for when you need a birthday card fast.

We layered:

  • A neutral Designer Series Paper
  • A simple Early Espresso mat
  • A stitched banner and circle

The magic here is two-step stamping. You stamp the outline, then lightly fill it in (or stamp off first for a softer look).

👉 Tip: Stamp off your ink before using the filler image for a natural, shaded look without any coloring.

Card #2: “A Little Note of Thanks” (with the CUTEST Bunny)

This card is where simple meets a little sparkle ✨

Instead of using the filler stamp, we used Wink of Stella to lightly pull color from the stamped lines and create a soft shimmer effect.

👉 Tip: When you use Wink of Stella right after stamping, it gently pulls the ink and gives you a watercolor look—no markers needed.

Add a little twine bow and done. Easy. Finished. Gorgeous.

Card #3: A Fun Layout with a Little Something Extra

This last card isn’t a traditional fun fold—but it feels like one.

The shorter front flap with embossed detail gives it a unique look without extra effort. And that daisy embossing? So much texture!

We added:

  • A layered DSP panel
  • A stitched circle focal point
  • A simple stamped duck with light coloring

👉 Tip: Use dimensionals just on the top portion when working with partial flaps so your card still opens easily.

🌸 Sweet Bugs Bundle: 3 Adorable & Easy Cards You’ll Love

If you’ve been craving something cute, cheerful, and easy, this week’s projects are going to hit the spot.

Between winter weather that just won’t quit and the itch to start thinking spring, I was more than ready to play with the Sweet Bugs Bundle from Stampin’ Up!—and let me tell you, this suite did most of the work for us.

These three cards are quick to make, beginner-friendly, and full of charming little details that make you smile without requiring complicated techniques. If you love letting Designer Series Paper shine (and who doesn’t?), you’re going to love these.

🐞 Why the Sweet Bugs Bundle Is a Total Win

This suite is adorable without being over-the-top, and it’s incredibly versatile. You get:

  • A playful stamp set with sweet sentiments

  • Coordinating dies that cut out stamped images and Designer Series Paper elements

  • Cute-as-can-be Ladybug Epoxy Shapes

  • Old Olive rickrack ribbon for texture

  • And that Cute as a Bug 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper—the real MVP

The paper alone creates instant scenes, which means less work for you and more time enjoying the process.

✂️ Card #1: Hello Friend (Simple with a Twist)

This card is proof that one angled piece of DSP can completely change a layout.
  • Thick Basic White card base

  • Angled Designer Series Paper panel

  • Old Olive rickrack ribbon to soften the seam

  • A simple “Hello Friend” sentiment

  • A fussy-cut ladybug straight from the DSP

It’s clean, quick, and perfect when you need a card now but still want it to feel special.

Tip: Cutting your DSP at an angle—without overthinking measurements—adds instant interest.

🌿 Card #2: Hello with a Whimsical Scene

This one might be my favorite (don’t tell the others).

Using the pre-printed scene panels from the DSP, you can build a little woodland moment in minutes:

  • Layered 3" x 4" panels for the background

  • Dimensionals to pop up the scene

  • Sweet stamped and colored bugs

  • Tiny epoxy ladybugs scattered for movement

This is a great example of letting paper do 90% of the work and then adding just a few stamped elements to bring it to life.

🐜 Card #3: Spread Joy (Playful & Dimensional)

This card leans fully into the whimsy—and I love it.
  • Layered Old Olive and DSP panels

  • Lily of the Valley stamped and softly colored

  • A marching line of ants (how cute is that?)

  • A bee watering the garden

  • A stitched “Spread Joy” sentiment popped up with dimension

It’s playful, dimensional, and still very achievable—even if detailed cards usually intimidate you.

💡 Why These Cards Work So Well

  • No complicated folds

  • Minimal coloring

  • Great layouts to mass-produce

  • Easy to adapt for different sentiments or occasions

If you’re easing back into crafting or just want something joyful and stress-free, this is a fantastic suite to have on your desk.

Easy Cards to Restart Your Creative Mojo (Using the 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar)

If your craft room has been a little quiet lately, you’re not alone. Between holidays, family time, and the general chaos of December, creativity can take a back seat. This week on Stampin’ Sundays, I wanted to make things easy. No pressure. No overthinking. Just three simple, pretty cards using supplies from the 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar to help gently restart that creative mojo.

These cards are proof that you don’t need complicated techniques or hours at your desk to make something beautiful.

Why Simple Cards Matter After the Holidays

Let’s be honest—jumping straight back into layered, technique-heavy projects can feel overwhelming. When creativity feels stuck, the best thing you can do is:

  • Use what you already have

  • Follow a simple process

  • Let the supplies do the heavy lifting

That’s exactly why kits and curated boxes (like this Advent Calendar) are such a lifesaver this time of year.

Card #1: Soft Florals + Stencils = Instant Wins

For the first card, I used the floral stencils from the Advent Calendar along with blending brushes and a soft color palette. Layered stencils might sound intimidating, but these are numbered and designed to line up easily—no guesswork required.

Why this card works:

  • Stenciling adds depth without bulk

  • Soft ink blending keeps it light and forgiving

  • Minimal embellishments let the design shine

This is the kind of card you can make multiples of once you’re in the groove.

Card #2: 3” x 4” Cards for Fast & Fabulous Designs

The second card highlights one of my favorite things from the Advent Calendar: the 3” x 4” pre-printed cards. These little panels are a game changer when you want results without fuss.

I simply:

  • Matted the card with coordinating cardstock

  • Added baker’s twine for texture

  • Finished with a stamped sentiment and a few gold accents

Tip: These small cards are perfect focal points w

hen your brain doesn’t want to “design” — they’ve already done it for you.

Card #3: Embossed Panels with Gentle Color

For the final card, I used one of the embossed 3” x 4” panels and lightly added ink over the raised areas with a blending brush. This gives you:
  • Subtle color

  • Beautiful texture

  • A clean, elegant look

Paired with a simple sentiment and one small embellishment, this card came together in minutes.

The Big Takeaway

You don’t need to go all-in to get back into crafting. Sometimes the best thing you can do is:

  • Make something simple

  • Use coordinated supplies

  • Give yourself permission to keep it easy

That’s how creativity comes back naturally.

Still Available (For Now!)

The 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar is still available on the Last Chance list. It includes:

  • A stamp set

  • Coordinating dies

  • Stencils

  • Pre-printed cards

  • Embossed panels

  • Labels, twine, and embellishments

It’s a fantastic value and an easy way to build your stash while actually using what you buy.

If you’ve been feeling creatively stuck, I hope this inspires you to pull out a simple kit and just start. Let me know in the comments—which card was your favorite? And if you want more easy card ideas like this, be sure you’re on my email list so you never miss a project.
