If you’ve ever looked at a stamp set and thought, “That’s cute… but can I actually make quick cards with it?” — friend, this week’s projects are for you.
As busy women, we don’t always have hours to spend in the craft room. Sometimes we just want to sit down with a cup of coffee, create something beautiful, and feel that little spark of creativity again without making a huge mess or overthinking every detail.
That’s exactly why I loved creating with the Exciting Times Bundle this week. These cards are simple, beginner-friendly, and come together quickly, but they still have those little “wow” details that make handmade cards feel extra special.
From layered designer paper to easy punch shapes and dimensional details, these projects prove you don’t need complicated techniques to create cards you’ll actually be excited to send.
Why the Exciting Times Bundle Is Perfect for Busy Cardmakers
One of my favorite things about this bundle is the coordinating punch. If you’ve been around here for a while, you already know I LOVE a good punch bundle because they make crafting fast and frustration-free.
No complicated die cutting.
No machines.
No tiny pieces to lose.
Just stamp, punch, and create.
The sentiments in this set are versatile enough for birthdays, celebrations, thank you cards, and everyday encouragement, which means you can make several cards at once and keep them on hand for those moments when life sneaks up on you and suddenly you need a card right now.
Card #1: A Simple Floral Birthday Card
The layout itself is incredibly simple:
- A layer of designer paper
- A stamped and punched sentiment
- A touch of linen thread
That’s it.
But those little details — especially the soft bow and rounded rectangle punch — make the card feel polished and intentional.
This is one of those layouts you could easily recreate with scraps from your stash, which makes it perfect for:
- Batch cardmaking
- Beginner stampers
- Using up leftover DSP
- Quick birthday cards to keep on hand
And honestly? The floral paper does most of the heavy lifting here.
Card #2: Adding Easy Dimension Without Complicated Techniques
The center sentiment piece is popped up inside a layered frame, creating dimension without adding bulk or complicated folds.
This card also mixed patterns from the Paper Medley Designer Series Paper pack:
- Polka dots
- Denim texture
- Soft florals
Mixing patterns can feel intimidating, but here’s the trick:
Stick to coordinating colors and vary the scale of the patterns.
That’s exactly what makes this card work so well.
The finishing touches — rhinestones and a Hydrangea Hue ribbon bow — add softness and elegance while still keeping the design clean and simple.
If you’ve ever felt nervous about layering patterned paper, this is a great card layout to try.
Card #3: Dress Up Your DSP with a White Gel Pen
One of the standout details was adding faux stitching with the new white gel pen on the Pretty Peacock paper piece.
And let me tell you…
I am obsessed with this white gel pen.
It’s one of those little tools that instantly makes your cards look more custom and handmade without requiring advanced techniques.
A few reasons I love faux stitching:
- Adds texture without sewing
- Makes flat cards more visually interesting
- Great for scrapbook layouts too
- Easy for beginners
This card also used several punched DSP rectangles layered together for a fun collage effect. It’s a fantastic way to use small paper scraps instead of letting them pile up in your craft room.
(And if your scrap bins are overflowing like mine… this card style is calling your name.)
Simple Cardmaking Still Counts
I think sometimes we convince ourselves that cards have to be elaborate to be meaningful.
But the truth is:
The people receiving your cards are not judging your layering techniques or how many dies you used.
They’re feeling loved because you took the time to make something with your own hands.
That’s the magic of handmade cards.
So if you’re in a season of life where time feels limited, energy feels stretched thin, or creativity feels hard to access — let simple be enough.
Because simple can still be beautiful.
Want to Create These Cards Yourself?
The Exciting Times Bundle is a fantastic addition to any craft room, especially if you love:
- Quick cards
- Punch bundles
- Easy layouts
- Beginner-friendly projects
- Versatile sentiments
And if you missed this week’s live, don’t worry — you can still catch the replay and get inspired to create your own versions.
I’d love to know:
Which card was your favorite this week — the floral birthday, the dimensional celebration card, or the layered thank you card?
