3 Simple WOW Cards You Can Make in Under an Hour (Even If You’re Busy)

Let me guess… you love the idea of making handmade cards, but when you sit down to craft, you don’t want anything complicated or time-consuming.

Same.

That’s exactly why this week’s projects are some of my favorites—because they look impressive, but they’re actually simple, quick, and totally doable… even after a long day.

We’re playing with the brand new Bloom Boutique Suite (coming in the May catalog!), and I’m showing you how to create 3 “simple WOW” cards using easy techniques, two-step stamping, and just a few fun folds.

Let’s break it down 👇

Card #1: The “Simple with a Twist” Layout

At first glance, this looks like a standard card… but it’s not 😉

The base has a subtle folded edge detail that instantly makes it feel more polished and unique.

Why this works:

  • Two-step stamping gives you beautiful florals with zero coloring stress
  • Soft color layering (hello Crisp Cantaloupe + Barely Blush!) keeps it elegant
  • That ribbon detail? It adds texture without extra work

Quick Tip:
If you’ve ever said “I’m not good at coloring,” two-step stamping is your best friend. Stamp your outline, stamp your fill… done.

Card #2: The Accordion Z-Fold (That Actually Stands Up!)

This is your “WOW card” of the night—but don’t let that scare you.

It’s just a series of simple score lines that create a fold that:

  • Opens beautifully
  • Displays perfectly on a mantel
  • Makes the recipient go, “Wait… how did you make this?!”

Why this one is a keeper:

  • Uses narrow strips of DSP (great for using up paper!)
  • Adds dimension without bulk
  • Perfect for birthdays or special occasions

Real talk:
If you can score paper, you can make this card. It’s way easier than it looks.

Card #3: The Double Flap “Thank You” Card

This one is quick, clean, and honestly… kind of addictive to make.

It opens in layers, which makes it feel interactive without being complicated.

What makes it special:

  • Monochromatic look = instant elegance
  • Scalloped circles = soft, feminine detail
  • Simple sentiment front and center

Pro Tip:
Use a strong adhesive (like Tear & Tape) on the flap—this part gets the most movement.

Let’s Talk About This Suite for a Second…

The Bloom Boutique Suite is one of those collections that does the work for you:

  • Two-step stamps (no coloring required ✔️)
  • Coordinating dies ✔️
  • Gorgeous DSP (with gold foil accents!) ✔️
  • In Color butterflies ✔️

It’s basically a “grab it and go” crafting solution… which I know you love.

A Few Takeaways You Can Use Right Away

If you’re short on time but still want beautiful results, try this:

  • Stick to 2–3 coordinating colors
  • Use designer paper as your focal point
  • Add one dimensional element (like a bow or popped-up layer)
  • Don’t overthink it—simple really can be stunning

  • Strawberry Slush – A returning favorite!

  • Secret Sea – A rich, deep navy-toned blue

  • Darling Duckling – A soft yellow that plays beautifully with Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lolly

  • Timid Tiger – A gorgeous peachy-orange that blends well with Pumpkin Pie and Calypso Coral

I shared color comparisons on my live, so you can see exactly how they stack up with existing shades!

🖼 Sentimental Framing + The Right Words = Cardmaking Gold

Tonight’s projects featured two incredible stamp sets:

  • Sentimental Framing – Gorgeous stitched frame dies and coordinating sentiments

  • The Right Words – A versatile mix of encouraging sentiments

  • Plus, a few floral accents from Everyday You & Me (an online exclusive)

✂️ Fun Fold #1 – Tent Fold Card

This stand-up card has a tent-like base that folds flat for easy mailing. We used Secret Sea and Cloud Cover, along with our In Color Dots for extra sparkle.

📸

Here are the basic instructions (perfect for a screenshot!):

  • Card base: 4-1/4" x 11"

  • Score at: 4", 8", 9", and 9-3/4"

  • Add layered DSP and sentiment panels to finish it off!

✂️ Fun Fold #2 – Double Column Card (Inspired by Connie Stewart)

This clever design folds flat but opens up into a dimensional double-column display. I used Berry Burst and the Full of Life DSP (a last-chance item on page 43 of the outgoing catalog).

📸

Measurements:

  • Card base: 10-3/8" x 5-1/2"

  • DSP panels: Four strips @ 1/2" x 5-1/4"

  • Center panel: 3" x 5-1/4"

  • Add sentiment layers and embellishments as desired!

💬 Let’s Keep the Kreative Conversation Going

Tell me—which new In Color is your favorite so far? So many of you voted for Cloud Cover during the live, and I love hearing your thoughts!

And don’t forget:

  • Let me know if you need a catalog

  • Subscribe to the May Paper Pumpkin before the 10th

Trimming the Tree Fun Fold

Trimming the Tree Fun Fold

Hello my friends!
This week I am still featuring the Perfect Pari Bundles. Trimming the Tree is the next one up and today, is a fun fold. This fun fold uses a standard card base and is scored in such a way that it fits in a standard card envelope.
The back of the card acts as the "inside" for stamping and writing your greeting/message as seen here in the photo below.
Trimming the tree fun fold inside

To create this fun fold you will need to score each end of your card base at 2" and 3-1/8". The inside and outside "centers" of this card (Basic White panel and DSP panel) measure 2" x 5-1/4" and the 2 end DSP panels measure 1-3/4" 5-1/4". The best part about this fun fold is that it's easy for the recipient to display their special handmade card!
