Scenic Coast Suite Collection: 3 Easy Handmade Cards Featuring Stunning Designer Series Paper

If you've ever looked at a sheet of Designer Series Paper and thought, "This is too pretty to cut up," this week's projects are for you!

The new Scenic Coast Suite Collection is filled with gorgeous coastal imagery, rich sunset colors, sailboats, lighthouses, and pearlized accents that practically create the card for you. If you're a busy crafter who loves beautiful results without spending hours at your craft table, these three cards are right up your alley.

This week on Stampin' Sundays, I shared three easy card designs that showcase just how versatile this suite can be—including a fun Double Vision technique that's much easier than it looks!

Let the Designer Series Paper Do the Heavy Lifting

One of the first things that caught my eye about the Scenic Coast Suite was the Designer Series Paper. The watercolor sunsets, ocean scenes, and pearlized details are absolutely breathtaking.

When you have paper this beautiful, you don't need complicated layouts or lots of embellishments. A few die cuts, a sentiment, and some coordinating sequins are all it takes to create a card that looks far more complicated than it actually is.

For these projects, I paired the paper with Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue, Secret Sea, and Basic White cardstock to let those vibrant coastal colors shine.

Card #1: Lighthouse Wishes

The first card features the lighthouse die layered over one of the stunning sunset scenes from the Designer Series Paper.

By cutting a circular window into a coordinating layer, the lighthouse scene becomes the focal point while still allowing the sunset colors to peek through. A few seashell die cuts and some sparkling sequins finish the card beautifully.

What I love most about this design is how easily it could be adapted for:

  • Thinking of You cards
  • Encouragement cards
  • Sympathy cards
  • Retirement cards
  • Masculine cards

The sentiment, "Wherever this note finds you..." paired with the inside greeting "...I hope it finds you happy!" creates a thoughtful card that's perfect to keep on hand.

Card #2: The Adventure Continues

The second project showcases the sailboat die and one of my favorite sentiments in the bundle: "The Adventure Continues."

This card combines a simple layered layout with die-cut seagulls and a sailboat silhouette cut from Blueberry Bushel cardstock. The sunset scene behind the sailboat creates instant drama without requiring any stamping or coloring.

This would make a wonderful:

  • Anniversary card
  • Retirement card
  • Graduation card
  • New job card
  • Travel-themed card

Sometimes a beautiful piece of paper and a meaningful sentiment are all you need.

Card #3: Double Vision Fun Fold Technique

The final card was the star of the evening—a Double Vision card created by slicing a single sheet of Designer Series Paper into half-inch strips.

Every other strip is adhered flat while alternating strips are raised with dimensionals. The result creates incredible depth and visual interest while preserving the entire scenic image.

The best part? It only requires:

  1. One piece of Designer Series Paper
  2. A paper trimmer
  3. Adhesive and dimensionals

That's it!

This technique works beautifully with:

  • Landscapes
  • Floral papers
  • Holiday scenes
  • Watercolor backgrounds
  • Specialty papers

If you've never tried a strip technique like this before, the Scenic Coast paper is the perfect place to start.

Why I Love the Scenic Coast Suite

This suite offers so much more than what I was able to showcase during one live stream. Between the sailboats, lighthouse, birds, netting, seashells, cave opening, and scenic stamps, the creative possibilities are endless.

Whether you enjoy quick and simple cards or more detailed designs, this collection gives you plenty of options while making it easy to create beautiful handmade cards you'll be proud to send.
