Remarkable Ink Big Blog Hop - Holiday Tags

Welcome to this months Remarkable Ink Big Blog Hop for November 2017! I am so glad you could join me today. This month our theme is Holiday Tags. You may be just starting here at my blog, Katrina's Kreative Heart, with me, Katrina Wolfe, or you may have come from the person before me in the list. Either way, if you get off track at any time, the full lineup is below and will help you move along from blog to blog so that you won't miss any of the amazing projects along the way. At the moment, you are visiting, Katrina Wolfe at Katrina's Kreative Heart.
For my tag project, I decided to use one of my favorite bundles from the Holiday catalog, Carols of Christmas. I just adore this bundle and find that I reach for it often and found once I got going on these cute tags, I couldn't stop so ended up with a total of 6 tags in no time at all. So, then, what's a girl to do with 6 tags laying around? Well, she makes a box to put them in of course! Again, quick and easy!

Tag Directions:

To create the tags, I cut Whisper White and Be Merry Christmas DSP 5.5" x 2" and adhered them together with Fast Fuse. I then punched the tops with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch. I stamped the deer from the Carols of Christmas in Soft Suede ink onto some scrap Whisper White cardstock and cut them out on the Big Shot with the coordinating die. I cut the single tree from the die set from scraps of Garden Green Cardstock and adhered both the tree and the deer to the bottom of the tags with mini dimensionals. For the sentiment and the To/From, I pulled out my Hang your Stocking stamp set. I stamped the Merry Christmas in Garden Green onto some scraps of Whisper White and punched them out with the Pretty Label punch and layered them onto a piece of Garden Green punched out with the 1.75" circle punch and popped them onto the tags with Stampin' Dimensionals. As a final touch, I added the Jute Twine to the top.

Box Directions:

To make the box, I started with a piece of Whisper White cut 7.5" x 4.5" for the bottom and scored 1" on all 4 sides. I snipped the end score lines up to the intersecting score lines on the 2 short ends, folded on all the score lines and added adhesive to the tabs and folded them in creating the bottom of the box.
For the box top, I used a piece of Garden Green also cut 7.5" x 4.5", only I added a shim of approximately 5 Post-It notes to the edge of my score board and scored all 4 sides at 1". I snipped the up to the intersecting score lines on the short ends to create my tabs and I added Be Merry DSP to the top (5.25" x 2.25") and all 4 sides, (long sides cut .75" x 5.25"; short sides .75" x 2.25") and added adhesive to all 4 tabs with Fast Fuse and created my box top.

I hope you enjoyed today's project. Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many amazing ideas and inspiration  you won't want to miss. Tuesday's Tips and So Much More

Hello and happy Tuesday. And you know what that means right? Yep, I have a brand new tip to share with you because don't you just Hate it, and I do mean Hate with a capitol H, when your photopolymer stamps lose their "sticky" and fall off the block....and have you noticed, they fall off AFTER you get it all inked up and you're hovering over your project just ready to connect it with your paper in just the right place, and WHAM O! it falls off the block and plops, inky side down, in the worst possible spot of your project? Happens every time, but, alas, there is a way to restore the sticky to your stamps. Check out the video here:
I also wanted to let you know, that Stampin' Up! has added a number of amazing products onto the Clearance rack last week at some UH-mazing prices, so be sure to check them out. Just make sure, if you shop that you use the Host code you can find over to the right; and whatever you do, don't wait because when this stuff is gone, it's gone forever.

That's $9.98 +tax for your first kit then 19.95 +tax there after. Paper Pumpkin makes a great gift for the busy crafter in your life or the young crafter too. It's a great way to grow your ink color collection as well as collect some great photopolymer stamp sets too. These kits are all inclusive making them great for taking on the road with you as well. Just some food for thought.

Stampin' Up! has an early release stamp set to get us started on our Christmas crafting to help us alleviate the big seasonal rush; Carols of Christmas bundle. So many possibilities with this one bundle. The Card Front Builder Framelits alone are just amazing.

Christmas In July - Carols of Christmas Remarkable Creations Blog Hop

Welcome to the Remarkable Creations Blog Hop. This month, our theme is Christmas in July with a focus on the brand new stamp set, Carols of Christmas. This is an early release from Stampin' Up! and will be available to our customers beginning Tuesday, August 1st; the same day as we demonstrators can begin our pre-orders from the new Holiday Catalog! Ooooh, I can not wait to share all of those goodies with you! Anyway, if this is your first stop along the way, I am Katrina Wolfe and if you scroll down, you will see the list of links for the rest of the talented demonstrators hopping along. Be sure to follow those links to some pretty amazing ideas using this bundle.
I decide to create an elegant gift card holder with this set. This bundle just screams elegance to me so I decided to go with a non-traditional Christmas color palate, Black, Gold and White to capture that elegance.
To create this card, I began with a half sheet of Basic Black, 4.25" x 11" scored at 2", 7.25" and 7.375". Using the envelope punch board, I cut notches from the "longer" end at 1" turned and punched again at 1". This creates a closure for the matchbook style gift card holder. I then folded the lower, smaller end up and secured it with the Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon. I love this ribbon to work with. It's so soft and fluid and so easy to tie into bows.
For the white insert that will hold the gift card, I cut a piece of Whisper White 6.5" x 3.75" and scored it at 1.75" and 6". I then folded on the score lines, the wide end I folded up toward me, and the smaller end, I folded back. I stamped some of the smaller images using Archival Black ink to the piece and applied adhesive to the narrow end and inserted the white piece into the pocket formed by the fold in the card base. I lined it up just beneath the bottom fold line in the base and closed it, burnishing along the area of the adhesive. Now when you open the card, it will naturally lift the gift card up and out of the card base.
Next, I cut a piece of Gold glimmer paper 4" x 3.25" and a piece of Vellum the same size. I ran the Vellum through the Big Shot twice, to cut the frame from both ends of the Vellum. For the second cut, I just lined the sides of the die up and into the previous cuts. I then dusted it with my Embossing Buddy to remove any oils from my fingers and any static. I stamped Deck the Halls with Versamark ink and added Gold Stampin' Embossing powder and heated it with my heat gun. I adhered it to the Gold Glimmer paper with Glue Dots strategically placed behind the embossed image and then adhered the entire piece to the card front using Fast Fuse.
I hope you enjoyed this card and are finding lots of inspiration following the hop. Just click on the next link below to continue along as I promise you won't be disappointed.

Happy Hopping,
Katrina
