Sailing Home Pop Up Card

Hello and Happy New Catalog! Have you had a chance to leaf through the amazing pages of our new annual catalog? Do you have a copy of the awesome new catalog? If not, and you are not currently working with a demonstrator, I would love the opportunity to serve you. Just request a copy of the catalog by filling out this form here. And in the meantime, you can look through the pages of the catalog in PDF form here.
Today I have a fun card to share with you using the bundle I am featuring all week, Sailing Home. I love this nautical set. It's just awesome and perfect for those Summer time birthdays and anniversaries and all those other Summer time events.
But the little surprise inside this card is a little pop up when you open it.. To create this card, I started with a Night of Navy card base measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored and folded at 4 1/4". I then layered a 3" x 4 1/4" piece of Soft Suede that I had run through the Subtles embossing folder; (If you don't have this embossing folder yet, you need to add this to your list of MUST haves! Unfortunately, all of our carry over embossing folders are delayed with our catalog launch. We have a new vendor producing our dies and embossing folders and the carry over list of embossing folders are a bit behind schedule but I will be sure to let you know the minute they become available again!) Then I added a 2" x 5 1/5" piece of the Come Sail Away DSP to the right side of the card and layered a stitch circle in Balmy Blue and die cut the stamped Lighthouse image done in Night of Navy ink and tucked in the die cut ships wheel. ( I know you can't see it well in the photo, but the wheel has some embossed detail that looks UH-MAZING!) I then stamped the greeting in Night of Navy onto a scrap piece of Whisper White and die cut it with the banner shape found in the coordinating Smooth Sailing die set.
Now, for the inside, this was so much easier than it actually looks!
I started with a 4" x 4" piece of Whisper White and scored it at 2" on both sides and then scored a diagonal from one corner to the other. I cut 2 pieces of DSP 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" and cut them both on the diagonal and flipped one half and attached them to the 2  "square" spaces that were divided by the diagonal scoreline. I then stamped the anchor image and the sentiment in Night of Navy on the remaining squares. I then folded on all of the scorelines, ensuring that the diagonal scoreline had mountain folds. I then adhered the two end squares to the inside of the card base so when the card is opened, it will pop open this piece. If you would like to see how this card is made, be sure to check out my Facebook Live from Sunday June 2, 2019 here.

New Catalog Launch and Sailing Home

Hello! I am so over the moon excited that I can't even contain myself! I LOVE new catalog time. It's always fresh and new and open to amazing ideas and creativity! So, today marks the day, the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog officially launches to everyone world wide and trust me, if you haven't had a peek into the covers of this gorgeous catalog, you MUST take a look inside. Here's the electronic downloadable version for you to peruse through. Pretty awesome eh?

So, as you know, one of the awesome perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is that I get to order select product ahead of time from the new catalog, and one of those products was the Sailing Home bundle. This bundle is UH-MAZING to say the least! I have had so much fun playing with all of this awesomeness, I can't even begin to describe. So, one of the fun cards I came up with and shared during Facebook Live Sunday, was this fun "Half Door" fold card.
It's pretty simple actually. I started with a standard card base measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored and folded at 4 1/4" in Basic Black. I then removed a 2" x 4 1/4" strip from the card front using my trimmer. This created the "half door" and I ran it through my die cutting/embossing machine using the Swirls & Curls embossing folder to create some fun texture that kind of reminded me of crashing waves. I then layered a piece of the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper cut at 4" x 5 1/4" on the inside. I then took a piece of Whisper White measuring 3" x 4" and stamped the compass image from the Sailing Home stamp set in Basic Gray ink and the sentiment, "Your My True North" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and adhered that to the center inside of the card. Then, using my paper snips, I marked the center of the compass on the "half door" and using the 1 1/2" Circle Punch, I punched a small "bite" from the "half door" card front to allow the entire compass to show on the card front. I then stamped the sentiment onto a piece of scrap Whisper White and die cut it using my die cutting machine and the coordinating label die from the Smooth Sailing die collection and adhered it to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. To finish the card, I wrapped the "half door" with Whisper White Bakers Twine about 3 times and added the anchor from the adorable Sail Away Trinkets and tied a bow. I just love how this card turned out and I hope you do too. If you would like to see how this card was made, check out my video on Facebook and be sure to join me every Sunday evening at 7 PM ET for a fun evening of stamping and prize patrols. Now who doesn't love prize patrol? Unfortunately, only residents of the US are eligible to win prizes. And while you're there, be sure to "Like" my page. I would absolutely appreciate that so very much. In addition, I invite you to join my mailing list to keep informed of all things Stampin' Up!, free tutorials and all things Kreative Heart.
