Hello and thanks so much for stopping by to hang out with me for a bit. It's surely been a crazy weekend for sure. Well to start, I seem to have an electrical problem in my craft room, so needless to say, it's been interesting. You see, my craft room is in my upstairs and to say it's pretty warm up there with these near 90 degree temps, it a true understatement. So, needless to say, getting any crafting done is near impossible. Lucky for me, I did a little creating prior to my electrical problem rearing it's ugly face. My dad, who happens to be an electrician is going to attempt to fix it today....so fingers crossed!
Ok, on to today's card! Today I have a simple corner cut out card featuring the adorable Piece of Cake stamp set by Stampin' Up! This set first debuted in our 2019 Occasions catalog and carried over into our new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, and oh how happy that made me. It's been quite popular since it made it's debut, as a matter of fact, it spent the first several weeks un-orderable due to the significant number of backorders for it! So, today, I wanted to feature it here with this fun corner cut out.
To recreate this card, you will need a thick Whisper White card base cut 4 1/4" x 11" scored and folded at 5 1/2", a piece of DSP or Designer Series Paper (I used DSP from the Brights Collection pack) that measures 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and a second, coordinating piece of DSP die cut using the largest rectangle in the Stitched Rectangles Die collection. From the bottom right corner of the stitched rectangle DSP, you will use the second largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Die Collection to die cut and remove the corner. Adhere this panel to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamp the cake onto a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock and color with the Light Night of Navy Stampin' Blend marker and the Dark Flirty Flamingo and punched it out using the coordinating Cake Builder punch. I punched out the cake stand in Gold Foil paper and adhered this to the die cut corner with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals and added the cake with Stampin' Dimensionals. I then stamped the candle image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White and colored them in with the light Flirty Flamingo Blends Marker and the flames I colored with the light Pumpkin Pie marker. I fussy cut them out and popped them up with a Stampin' Dimensional.
To complete the card, I added the sentiment onto a 1/2" piece of Whisper White and bannered one end and added it across the cake with a little Snail adhesive. I then wrapped a triple strand of Whisper White Bakers Twine around and tied into a bow. It added just the right amount of pizzazz to the card to finish it off.
I hope you enjoyed today's card and it has inspired you to attempt a corner cut out layout for yourself and be sure to stop by tomorrow for another project featuring the Piece of Cake stamp set.
Happy Stamping,
