My Top Five Must Haves for Stamp/Card Class

Hey all, Happy Sunday! I hope you're off to a great start to your week. I guess I'm headed out bowling here shortly...that aught to be a site! I've only bowled once in my life and that was over 20 years ago....oh the things I get dragged into!
Anyhoo, today I want to address a question I have been getting lately. What should I bring to a stamp/card class? Well, there are 5 basic essentials you should always have when paper crafting, whether you're taking a scrapbook class, a card making class or making 3D projects such as boxes and bags and they are as follows (in no order of importance- they are all equally important in my opinion)

1. Paper Snips:

Paper Snips are sharp, fine detail scissors that allow you to cut and trim small details from you paper. They are perfect for fussy cutting out images and getting into those tight little spaces of an image.

2. Paper Piercing Tool:

The Paper Piercing Tool, aka, the pokey tool (I prefer pokey tool myself) is not only the perfect tool for paper piercing (which is a great way to add texture and interest to your paper project, but it's a great tool for picking up and placing those tiny embellishments such as gems and pearls. It allows you to get under the embellishment and lift it with the glue dot under it and easily place it with precision in the place you want the embellishment.

3. Bone Folder:

The bone folder is an essential tool for your paper crafting arsenal. It allows you to fold and deeply crease your paper, creating nice clean edges for your cards and is a mandatory tool when making boxes and bags in order to achieve those crucial crisp folds and edges.

4. Snail Adhesive:

Snail adhesive is a tape runner. It provides a fairly strong bond between paper layers and requires zero dry time. It's convenient to use and easy and economical.

5. Liquid Multipurpose Glue:

Liquid Multipurpose Glue is another essential. Sometimes, having a little lead time before the glue is completely dry is necessary in order to get good alignment. Multipurpose glue is also a stronger bond once dry, making it a great choice when making things such as boxes and bags where the item will get more "wear and tear", so this would be my go to adhesive in those instances.

I hope this has helped you out in knowing what tools should be your "first order" when attending card/stamp classes as these essentials will make your experience much smoother and easier. You're Inspiring! for Easter

Happy Tuesday! Well it's beginning to feel and look a bit like Spring is trying to make an early emergence, which is quite strange for this area...but I will take it, and that is what inspired me to share this card with you as Easter is upon us and I just love this new stamp set found in the Spring Occasions catalog.
One of my most favorite flowers are the Daffodils, they're so cheery and happy in their sunny yellow "coats" and their amazing strength to emerge from under winters blanket at the first hint of Spring. And of course, hence my love for this stamp set. To make this stamp set even more awesome, is that it is great line image art for coloring, making it a perfect set to use Stampin' Blends to color, and that is just what I did! I pulled out my Daffodil Delight markers, the light Old Olive and the light Calypso Coral.
I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in the leaves with the light Old Olive. I then colored the flowers with the light shade of Daffodil Delight and added the dark shade inside the trumpet and at the base of the trumpet and petals. Then, to add depth and a pop of color, I added the light Calypso Coral to the petal bases and slightly up the trumpet base. For the full tutorial PDF, download it here. I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I have. It truly is one of my favorite stamp sets and I am so ready to think Spring!
Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below, I would love to hear them, and if you enjoyed this tutorial, please join my mailing list to get more great tutorials just like it, weekly.
Happy Stamping,

Stampin' Up!® Kit's - A Quick, Easy and Inexpensive Way to Be Ready For Any Occasion!

Hello and Happy Tuesday from frigid CNY! (Next time you hear from me, I will be in Northern New Jersey :) for another work related trip) Anyhoo, today I wanted to talk to you about the fantastic kits Stampin' Up! has put together for us in both the Annual and Occasions Catalogs. Kits simplify the creative process with precut pieces for amazing projects. These kits are supper terrific because for one, you get a big "bang for your buck"! Especially with the all-inclusive kits such as the Soft Sayings kit found in the Annual Catalog. This kit is only $35 and creates 20 cards, 2 each of 10 different designs.
I just finished putting my kit together and I have to say, these cards are just beautiful. They are professionally designed by amazing graphic artist and it has EVERYTHING you need to put these beauties together. And, once you are done, you have a nice supply of Thank You, Birthday, Congrats and many other basic sentiment cards on hand, 20 cards in all, ready to go when you need them -  bonus #2 you have an awesome stamp set that you can use over and over again - bonus #3 you can purchase a refill kit for this particular kit, so you can continue the fun as long as you'd like! The other kit I absolutely love is found in the 2018 Occasions catalog. It is the Perennial Birthday Kit.
This kit isn't an "all inclusive" because the stamp set isn't included, however, it's still an amazing deal. At just $27 your receive a decorative "recipe box" to keep your cards in along with all of the supplies necessary for completing the 16 cards in the kit. The only thing you would need to supply is the stamp set ($22) and a couple of recommended ink pads, Dapper Denim, Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive. But imagine, 16 amazing, hand stamped birthday cards on hand and ready to go when you need them!
All of our kits come with full color printed instructions so you know exactly what to do, provided you don't choose to go ahead and experiment with you own ideas that is? Kits are perfect for the beginner that doesn't want to invest too much right away in supplies. And kits are perfect for the avid paper crafter because these kits can save you a lot of time when you are running so short on that precious commodity. So take a look around the catalogs and pick a kit that is right for you and put it together as soon as you get it home. I'd love to see what you do with it. Happy stamping.

Brusho For those Milestone Moments

Hello and Happy Sunday! I'm a bit late this evening but the day ran away from me..but it was a productive crafty day. I designed my swaps for an up coming demo swap I am participating in, I designed my cards for the Stampin' Blends club for the month (OMG...I'm loving how these came out!) just sayin' - but, they are exclusive to my Blends club. And I designed my card and typed up my tutorial for the tutorial coop I participate in.
Today my parents celebrate 49 years of marriage! Amazing right? Well, that leads me to the card I created for them today. I wanted to play some more with my Brusho and thought this was a perfect reason. And the best part....this card is so quick and simple! And who doesn't love quick and simple? This time, I pulled out my little paint pallet and tapped a little of the Brusho crystals into the wells, I used the red, Prussian Blue and Yellow and dropped some water from my Aqua Painter into the wells to create the watercolor. Then using my Aqua Painter, I picked up the liquid color and just "scribbled" it onto my Whisper White piece that measures 3 3/4" x 5".
Once I was happy with the color, I used my heat tool to dry the watercolor, flipping my paper occasionally to minimize the warping. I stamped the Happy Anniversary in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and wrapped a piece of the Night of Navy gingham ribbon around the piece and tied it into a bow. I adhered this down onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock cut 4" x 5 1/4" with Fast Fuse and adhered that all down to a standard card base of Daffodil Delight. I love blues and yellows together and this card was no exception.
I hope you enjoyed today's card. Below you will find everything you need to reproduce this card. If you would like to receive lots of free tutorials, please sign up for my newsletter here.
Happy Stamping,

Brusho Background

Hello and Happy Thursday! I hope you all survived the big winter storm yesterday unscathed? We got just around a foot of snow from it..nothing too unusual around here. Now, I'm getting ready for some more travel over the next few weeks. Next Thursday I head for New Jersey and the last week of the month, I head off to Alabama! I haven't traveled this much in my entire life! But, this is a "one time" thing and then life will return to normal again. But in the meantime, I did get to steal away some time in my craft room and I pulled out my Brusho to play with and this is what I came up with:
I love this stuff! It's so versatile and you can use it in so many ways. For this card, I did the "smooshing" technique using the Yellow, Brilliant Red and Prussian Blue. You can follow the video here. I stamped the butterfly from the Beautiful Day stamp set with Versamark® ink onto Vellum cardstock and embossed it in Gold Stampin' emboss powder.. I colored the wings in with the Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party and Night of Navy Stampin' Blends on the reverse side of the vellum and fussy cut it out.

Measurements:

Basic Black: 8.5" x 5.5" scored and folded 4.25"; 3.25" x 4.25"; 1" x 4.25"
Watercolor Paper: 4" x 5.25"
Petal Passion DSP: 4" x 3"
Vellum: 4" x 4"

I hope you enjoyed today's card and if you would like to stay informed of up coming sales, fun an other happenings Stampin' Up! or Kreative Heart, sign up for my newsletter here.
