Anyhoo, today's card I put together last night. I decided to play with the watercolor "smooshing" technique I've been seeing a lot of on the internet lately. I also saw in a Facebook group for demonstrators where a demo had asked if our Stampin' Up! ink worked as well as the Distress inks everyone is using for the technique so of course my wheels began to turn and I decided to see just how well it would work. And our Stampin' Up! dye based ink worked GREAT! I even created water spots by spritzing a pool of water into my hand and dripping it onto the paper and picking up the color with my paper-towel!
I used Marina Mist, Tempting Turquoise and Night of Navy inks for this card and I just "smooshed" the ink onto a piece of acetate, spritzed with water and smooshed the color onto the watercolor paper. I did dry the ink between colors, this helps prevent the colors from mixing too much and muddying up the effect. Once I was happy with my color layers, I dropped water droplets onto the paper and picked the color up with my paper-towel and hit it again one final time with my heat gun. This technique does REALLY warp your paper so you will need LOTS of adhesive to stick it down onto your card base.
