Sailing Home Pop Up Card

Hello and Happy New Catalog! Have you had a chance to leaf through the amazing pages of our new annual catalog? Do you have a copy of the awesome new catalog? If not, and you are not currently working with a demonstrator, I would love the opportunity to serve you. Just request a copy of the catalog by filling out this form here. And in the meantime, you can look through the pages of the catalog in PDF form here.
Today I have a fun card to share with you using the bundle I am featuring all week, Sailing Home. I love this nautical set. It's just awesome and perfect for those Summer time birthdays and anniversaries and all those other Summer time events.
But the little surprise inside this card is a little pop up when you open it.. To create this card, I started with a Night of Navy card base measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored and folded at 4 1/4". I then layered a 3" x 4 1/4" piece of Soft Suede that I had run through the Subtles embossing folder; (If you don't have this embossing folder yet, you need to add this to your list of MUST haves! Unfortunately, all of our carry over embossing folders are delayed with our catalog launch. We have a new vendor producing our dies and embossing folders and the carry over list of embossing folders are a bit behind schedule but I will be sure to let you know the minute they become available again!) Then I added a 2" x 5 1/5" piece of the Come Sail Away DSP to the right side of the card and layered a stitch circle in Balmy Blue and die cut the stamped Lighthouse image done in Night of Navy ink and tucked in the die cut ships wheel. ( I know you can't see it well in the photo, but the wheel has some embossed detail that looks UH-MAZING!) I then stamped the greeting in Night of Navy onto a scrap piece of Whisper White and die cut it with the banner shape found in the coordinating Smooth Sailing die set.
Now, for the inside, this was so much easier than it actually looks!
I started with a 4" x 4" piece of Whisper White and scored it at 2" on both sides and then scored a diagonal from one corner to the other. I cut 2 pieces of DSP 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" and cut them both on the diagonal and flipped one half and attached them to the 2  "square" spaces that were divided by the diagonal scoreline. I then stamped the anchor image and the sentiment in Night of Navy on the remaining squares. I then folded on all of the scorelines, ensuring that the diagonal scoreline had mountain folds. I then adhered the two end squares to the inside of the card base so when the card is opened, it will pop open this piece. If you would like to see how this card is made, be sure to check out my Facebook Live from Sunday June 2, 2019 here.
