Thumping with Rooted in Nature

Happy Tuesday! Fall is in the air, and you know what that means right? Yes, it's pumpkin spice everything time of year! My two favorite scents and flavors of Fall are Pumpkin Spice and Apple and what's even better? When my friends at Yankee Candle mix them together to create the heavenly scent of Apple Pumpkin! OH-EM-GEE! I LOVE this scent!

Oh, before I forget, Saturday is World Card Making Day and at Stampin' Up!, we're celebrating ALL week long with a special sale! Download the flyer here.

Anyway, in addition to my favorite scent being available this time of year, it also inspires me to pull out those beautiful nature inspired stamp sets such as Rooted in Nature. And with the cool crisp morning air and the changing of the leaves taking place outside my window, I was inspired to play with a technique I haven't done in a few years, called "Thumping".

So, I pulled out my Stampin' Write Markers and the Rooted in Nature stamp set and went to work. And this is what I came up with:

I started with a standard card base of Old Olive measuring 8.5" x 5.5" scored and folded at 4.25". I added a layer of Cajun Craze measuring 4" x 5.25" and a layer of Crushed Curry 3.75" x 5" and a second piece of Cajun Craze measuring 4.25" x 3.25". I then cut a piece of Whisper White 4" x 3" and inked up the large tree from the Rooted in Nature stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink, then I colored in the tree trunk with the Early Espresso marker, taking care to add in some Early Espresso where I could see branches through the leaves. I then took the Crushed Curry marker and "thumped" it around the stamp, followed by Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce Stampin' Write Markers. I then "huffed" the stamp well to moisten the ink that may have started to dry onto the stamp and stamped my Whisper White piece. I layered it to the Cajun Craze layer and added this to the center of the card. I then stamped the sentiment in Cajun Craze onto a scrap piece of Whisper White and punched it out using the punch from the Christmas Traditions Punch Box set found in the Holiday catalog and layered it with a circle punched from Cajun Craze with a 1.5" circle punch and popped this up with a Stampin' Dimensional.

I hope this card inspires you to pull out your Stampin' Write markers to give this technique a try. It's a lot of fun and packs a bit of a punch in your card making skills. I hope you enjoyed today's card and hope you will join me later this week or another fun technique. Wishing you a great Fall week ahead and Happy Stamping!

Rooted In Nature

Hello and Happy Friday...yes, another day late right? Well, lets just chalk this up to one of THOSE weeks!

My product pick for this week is the Rooted in Nature stamp set and bundle found in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. I just love this amazing set and it coordinates beautifully with the Lovely as a Tree and now the Holiday catalog has a new set that will also coordinate beautifully called Winter Woods. Anyhoo, I have a couple of gorgeous swap card samples to share with you that truly highlight the beauty of this set.

The first swap sample I have is from the talented Tami Weil. I love the colors she chose to use in this card, with the Grapefruit Grove and the Blackberry Bliss. These colors really compliment one another and this card just pops with them.

The second card highlights the earthiness of this gorgeous set. I love the neutral colors used here with just a pop of the Grapefruit Grove from the Twine. This swap card was created by Olivia Studley and I think she did an amazing job.
Well, I'm off to prep for my Holiday swap. I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with. You will find all of the supplies used in these cards below, just use the links to shop in my online store. You will find the Host Code for this month over to the right of this post. In the meantime, have a wonderful day.
Happy Stamping,
