Out With The Old and In With The New

Wow, can you believe it, today is the final day to place orders from the 2015-2016 annual catalog and the Occasions catalogs! Tomorrow morning the new and oh so fantastic new 2016-2017 annual catalog goes live! Trust me when I tell you, I can barely contain my excitement! This catalog goes way beyond fantastic! However, if there is anything on the retirement list that you really want, today's your last chance. Lots has sold out, but there is still a lot of great things left so feel free to check it out before it's gone forever in less than 24 hours!
Ok, now for today's card. I can finally share it with you. I had to keep it under wraps until after I gave it to my dad for his birthday and I didn't want him to stop by here and see it before he received it, so now it's in his hot hands and now I can share it with all of you. This comes from my oh so favorite new set, Swirly Bird stamp set! I can not believe how versatile this stamp set is and of course I adore the coordinating Thinlits as well....waves are compliments of the Thinlits!

The sentiment comes from the stamp set Thoughtful Banners. I totally love this set as well because you create sooo many sentiments, its almost endless the combination of words you can put together to create just the right sentiment. The colors I used are Mint Macaron, Night of Navy and for the "sun" Delightful Dijon, the boat is Tip Top Taupe and the flag is Real Red. I hope you enjoy this card, I think dad did. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I hope you all have a great day and happy stamping.

Just Sitting Here

Hey there! Happy Saturday! I think summer has arrived....it's pretty warm out there but I love it and it makes me think of hanging out on the front porch rocking and feeling the warm breeze against my face which made this card the perfect project!

This card uses the brand new Just Sitting Here stamp set. Isn't it just adorable? I used a masking technique to get the dog on the swing by stamping him first and I then painted him with liquid Frisket and while it dried I stamped, colored and fussy cut the throw pillows. Once the Frisket was dried, I stamped the swing right on top of the dog so that he was in the proper position using Crumb Cake ink. I colored in the swing cushion then I removed the Frisket using my rubber adhesive eraser. I added the throw pillows and stamped the grass image. Finally, I layered the panel onto Early Espresso and attached it to an extra thick Whisper White card base. Doesn't it just make you think of a peaceful afternoon on the porch?
This stamp set will be available Wednesday June 1st in my on-line store. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. In the meantime, happy stamping!

Color Blocking

Good morning! Today I want to share with you a really simple technique that creates some really cool backgrounds for your cards, it's called Color Blocking or Ink Blocking! It's where you take your acrylic blocks and ink the directly, spritz with water and apply the dampened ink directly to your cardstock! You can get so many variations of color and designs from this technique depending on the size and shape of the acrylic block, the amount of water used and of course the many ink colors to choose from.
Here is my example:

I used the new In-colors, Peek-a-boo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo and the stamp sets used are GreateSt Greetings and Wild about Flowers. So, the next time you pick up your acrylic blocks, give this technique a try. You will be amazed at the wonderful designs you will come up with!
Happy Stamping,
Katrina

More Swirly Scribbles

Happy Saturday! Wow, is it me or did this week just zoom by? I didn't even get to collect my $200! I'm sure I passed "go" somewhere along the way. Anyway, today I will be manning a huge 3 family garage sale, actually, all weekend. I think my house lost several hundred pounds from this little clean out. Doesn't it feel great when you get organized? I'm making my way into the world of organization, it just happens to be a process.

Ok, so, here is another card project using the Swirly Scribble Thinlits. LOVE this set. I have a few more ideas to share with you using this bundle, but here is today's:

Here I attached a flirty Flamingo piece 4 x 5.25" to a standard Whisper White card base. I then stamped a Whisper White piece 3.25"x 5" with the Hardwoods background stamp with Basic Gray archival ink and cut out 1 each of the Scribble Thinlits from Peek-a-boo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum. I adhered them using the Fine Tip glue and the Sentiment, which comes from the new Confetti Celebration stamp set, I stamped in Basic Gray onto a piece of Whisper White and bannered the end using the Triple Banner punch...another must have. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I look forward to hearing from you!
Have a great day and happy stamping,
Katrina

Have You Heard the News?

Have you heard the news? If you host a party in June and total sales before S&H and tax reach $350, you receive an additional $35 in hostess rewards! That is uh-maz-ing! Seriously, that's a new set of the brand new layering die sets! Or anything else you want to put that money toward! Really, don't miss out on this opportunity! Book a party with me in June and let's get you some great freebies! I am totally blown away that STampin' Up! is doing this for hosts! This is truly a knock out of the park on their part. They really want you to get some great product in your hands and so do I, so let me know when a good time is for you!
In the meantime, here is a sneak peak at one of my favorite sets coming June 1st. This is the Swirly Birds stamp set with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits (it is a bundle) and the possibilities are endless with this set!

I also used the new In-colors, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo along with Emerald Envy for the leaves. There are so many pieces to this set that the only thing that can limit you, is your imagination! So, heads up, put this one on top of your wish list and I'll be back Saturday with another example from this set!
Happy Stamping,
Katrina

Shake Shake Shake

Don't you just love an adorable shaker card? I know! They're just so fun to just sit and play with (insert grin) and they're even more fun to make, especially now that SU has introduced the new dimensional strips in the new catalog that will be available to you on June 1st!

The new layering square Framelits also made this card as cinch to whip up in no time. One of the straight edge Framelits perfectly coordinated with this Painters Pallet stamp set and then I used the next size larger to cut the window sheet and the backing Whisper White that I stamped my images onto. I then applied the window sheet over the opening I created on the pallet, added the dimensional strips around and filled with the sequins and some Emerald Envy "sprinkles" I punched using the new Sprinkles punch coming in the new catalog, applied my stamped image face down and adhered the entire panel onto a piece of Sweet Sugarplum CS and attached that to a Whisper White card base. The one thing I wish I had done was to use my Embosing Buddy on the inside of the window sheet to remove the static, only because, although there is plenty of Shake in my shaker card, as you can see, some of the sequins are sticking due to static...but, still it's adorable, it's quick and it's easy....everything you could want in a hand-made card! So, on June 1st be sure to grab some goodies and make yourself some shaker cards to spread around and watch all the Shake, shake, shake going on!

Happy Stamping!

Throw Back Thursday

Hello! You will need to forgive me for being among the missing this week. Late Friday night, I was struck with the evil stomach bug and am continuing to fight with it still, not exactly the bug, but the aftermath of feeling extremely tired and blah. I also would like to take a minute to shout out to my fellow nurses, Happy Nurse’s Week! You all ROCK!

I have to say, I am so excited, today my pre-order from Stampin’ Up! arrives! I have been waiting since Tuesday at 4:30am EST when I placed my order and it’s finally going to arrive! Being able to pre-order is an awesome perk of being a demonstrator but this wait is killing me! I almost think it’s worse than suffering through the stomach bug, ok, well maybe not that bad…..at least I can pick my head up lol. Anyhoo, if you are a follower on my FB page, I plan to open the box live on FB so I can share the excitement. And if you’re not a FB follower, why not? No really, get over there and click like and join the fun! www.facebook.com/snsfromtheheart The live stream will be near as I can tell around 10pm EST as I do need to attend a Nurse's Week celebration this evening, but as soon as I get home, that box is getting opened, so join the fun and excitement!

Ok, for today, I did want to share a little Throw Back Thursday with you all. This card uses the retiring Sea Street stamp set along with already retired DSP from 2014.

Supplies:

Sea Street Stamp Set

Suite Sayings Stamp Set

I hope you have enjoyed today’s card and I hope to be back soon with some fresh ideas from my pre-order to help get you creating!

Keep That Old Eyeshadow!

Hello again, well I'm so excited! My pre-order from the new catalog is finally on its way! It finally shipped this afternoon and should be here next Thursday....I made a mistake and did not adjust my shipping to express insert sad sad face! So, now I must practice impatiently being patient lol.
Anyway, today I want to show you a card that I did using some old eyeshadow I had laying around. That's right, I said eyeshadow! So, while doing your Spring cleaning, should you come across any old eyeshadow, rather than throw it out, haul it off to your craft room!

To accomplish this technique, you will need an embossing pigment ink like Versamark, a stamp of choice (I used the Swallowtail by Stampin' Up! Which happens to be on the retirement list) some eyeshadow and either sponges or a brush to apply the shadow. (Cotton swabs will also work)
To begin, ink up the stamp and stamp the image onto your cardstock. Then begin applying the eyeshadow by brushing or sponging the color over the stamped image. Once you've applied all of the color and you are happy with your coverage, take a clean facial tissue and rub the image to remove any losse eyeshadow powder. This also seems to help the color adhere better to the ink. In this example, I stamped the Best mother ever verse from the Stampin' Up! set And Many More using Versamark ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder onto Basic Black cardstock scrap, bannered the end using the retiring Banner punch and adhered it using glue dots.
I hope you enjoyed today's project and if you have any questions please ask. In the meantime, share with me in the comments below which stamp set or tool you are most sad to see go that is on the retirement list?
Have a great day and happy stamping!

Get 'Em While You Can

Hi there! I'm getting so excited! Today, I get to place my pre-order from the new catalog! Wohoo! (Insert happy happy face) Just another perk for being a demonstrator. But, I do have to tell you, the retiring list is beginning to show "sold out" on many products. I can't stress enough, that if you want something that is on that list, you can't wait, chances are you will not be able to get it. The stamp sets are being manufactured until 5/22 but ALL other products are "while supplies last" and they are not lasting long at all especially the retiring In-colors....anything with those colors are going very quickly.
I also want to point out that if you have been considering the idea of signing up as a demonstrator and joining the Stampin' Up! family, now is a great time because you can select items from the pre-order options for your starter kit! Yes, you too can take part in the pre-order that the rest of us demonstrators get to partake in. Just a little food for thought.
I have to run now, but I will be back Thursday with a project for you so until then, happy stamping.
